(MENAFNEditorial) A delegation from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) took part at the Campus energy 2016 Conference, whose theme was the 'Energy-Changing Landscape,' at Austin, Texas, to promote the 18th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), from 4-6 October 2016 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. WETEX is held under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of DEWA.
DEWA's participation at the event was part of a delegation that included HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), HE Ali bin Abdullah Al Owais, Chairman of the Regulatory and Supervisory Bureau for Electricity & Water in Dubai and Saeed Bel Jafla, Deputy Senior Manager of Government Relations at DEWA. The visit supports the global roadshow's programme to attract participants for WETEX 2016, and the Dubai Solar Show 2016.
"In line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote WETEX 2016 on a wider global scale, and introduce the first Dubai Solar Show 2016 held alongside WETEX, DEWA took part in the Campus Energy 2016 Conference. Our main aim was to attract participants by building on the exhibition's leading position in energy, water, electricity, environment, solar energy and other related sectors," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
The event highlighted various topics including chemical handling operations, drinking-water treatment, automation pipes, collection systems pumps and management, and stormwater treatment equipment. The delegation promoted WETEX 2016 as a powerful event covering energy, water, conservation, green buildings, fossil fuels and sustainability.
"The purpose of our taking part was to present to international participants the importance of WETEX, and invite hundreds of companies specialising in water, environment, energy and renewable energy to participate in the next show," added Al Tayer.
The delegation highlighted the importance of WETEX to Campus Energy 2016 Conference delegations. Participants at the event praised the strategic projects launched by DEWA in solar energy and clean coal, as well as DEWA's global smart initiatives.
"We also shared expertise with national and multinational exhibitors, and reviewed the latest updates in the global energy sector. Our presence attracted multinational companies to join WETEX in October 2016," said Al Tayer.
"Our delegation was briefed on the best practises in energy presented at the Campus Energy 2016 Conference, organised by the International District Energy Association (IDEA)," added Al Tayer.
"During the visit, we succeeded in encouraging international energy companies to participate in the economic boom in the United Arab Emirates by providing the latest oil and gas, clean coal, renewable energy, solar power generation and smart networks, efficiency and rationalisation techniques that serve the objective of WETEX 2016," said Al Tayer.
Under the umbrella of the third Green Week 2016, WETEX is gaining a growing role as a platform where DEWA is enhancing global conversations and promoting concepts of sustainability in energy, water, environment, green economy, development, smart cities and other relevant sectors, in line with its vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility.
WETEX 2016 is expected to see wide participation by international companies, leveraging on its position as an ideal platform for green solutions and products. This comes at the time when the UAE and Dubai are launching promising projects to consolidate the green economy and sustainable development concepts. WETEX has succeeded in attracting large groups of international participants based on its 17-year experience that made it one of the best specialist exhibitions in the world.
