Kia Motors' sales plunge 9.9 percent in August

(MENAFN) Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's second-largest automaker, announced that its sales contracted 9.9 percent on-year in August amid abroad demand which stayed in a weak position.

The fall was mainly due to a drop in overseas sales which came to 154,242 units, declining 15 percent from 2014, including the domestic numbers; company sold 195,982 units last month, down from 217,437 vehicles sold a year earlier.

In more detail, cutting back the production volume in the Chinese plants was the core reason the weak abroad sales, as Kia explained, all in all, its total sales plunged 3.4 percent to 1,959,265 units in the eight months to August.
