Rashdi, Hadi to be part of Oman Air crew in ESS

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Top Omani sailors, Hashim al Rashdi and Musab al Hadi, who were on board the title-winning The Wave, Muscat last year, will be part of the Oman Air crew for the 2014 edition of the Extreme Sailing Series (ESS).

According to an Oman Sail press release, the two sailors will be part of a team that will be skippered by Briton Rob Greenhalgh as the new season begins with the opening Act in Singapore from February 20-23.

Oman Air, which has returned to the ESS after a one-year absence, is Oman Sail's second entry at the Series this year, alongside The Wave, Muscat.

The other members of the Oman Air crew this year are Will Howden and Tom Reynolds.

With Hadi and Rashdi leaving The Wave, Muscat, it now remains to be seen which two Omani sailors will replace the departing duo on the crew that will be skippered by Leigh McMillan.

Among the frontrunners are Nasser al Mashari, who has good ESS experience, and Fahd al Hassani.

Meanwhile, Oman Air CEO Wayne Pearce said in a statement, ''We are excited to return to the ESS this year and to link our name to this successful event. Our best wishes for Rob Greenhalgh and his team. At Oman Air, we are proud in continuing our focus of promoting Oman as a destination through high-profile events.''
