Prince Ali: Jordan's Qualification For World Cup Finals, A Fruit Of Decades Of Work
Amman, June 6 (Petra) – HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Football Association, said on Friday that the national team's qualification for the 2026 World Cup finals is the fruit of over two decades of work focused on developing youth categories and building a footballing base capable of competing at the highest levels.
Jordan has an outstanding national squad that underwent numerous development phases in recent years, Prince Ali said in an interview with CNN, citing a youth program launched more than two decades ago, which largely helped to prepare many of the players who are on the team today.
Making it to the AFC Asian Cup finals was quite an achievement, but a challenge, in the past, but the Nashama (Jordanian national team) now are a regular participant in the continental tournament, underscoring the remarkable progress Jordanian football has made in recent years.
The national team is eager to give their best in its historic debut in the World Cup, said Prince Ali, noting that they are in high spirits and will represent Jordan in the best possible manner, despite absences and injuries within the team.
On footballer Musa Al-Taamari, Prince Ali called him a model of a successful Jordanian talent development system, who began his career through youth academies before professional experiences in Europe, moving from Cyprus to Belgium and then France. He expressed hope that more Jordanian players will have similar opportunities to build their careers.
His Highness also said the national team's new jersey was designed combining simplicity with national identity and its colors inspired by the Jordanian keffiyeh, which has become a key mark in the stands of the Nashama, reflecting the public support the team enjoys on various occasions.
The national squad are in the United States, continuing their preparations for their world cup campaign, amid high public expectations to make history after their unprecedented qualification for the tournament for the first time.
