Türkiye's BIST 100 Closes Week Lower


(MENAFN) Türkiye's benchmark equity index closed the week on a downbeat note Friday, shedding 178.06 points from the previous session to finish at 13,694.19 — a daily decline of 1.28%.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 opened the session at 13,889.37 points, fluctuating between a daily low of 13,661.82 and a high of 13,903.42 before settling well below Thursday's close.

The index's total market capitalization stood at approximately 13.33 trillion Turkish liras, equivalent to around $290.7 billion, with trading volume reaching 172 billion liras ($3.73 billion) across the session. Of the 100 constituent stocks, only 18 advanced while 78 declined compared to the prior close.

On the commodities front, gold was trading at $4,340.60 per ounce as of 1600 GMT, while Brent crude futures stood at $93.3 per barrel.

The Turkish lira continued to reflect prevailing pressure against major currencies. The US dollar fetched 46.0850 liras, the euro traded at 53.1940 liras, and the British pound exchanged hands at 61.6300 liras.
