Qatar Chess Federation Fetes Winners In School Competition
In the boys' category, Nasser Faisal al-Thani of My Academy and Ibrahim Tutonji of Qatar Academy Doha shared first place with 5.5 points each.
Abdulrahman al-Saifi of My Academy secured second place with 5 points, while Arman Ramjan finished third with 4.5 points, tied with Ahmed al-Hawaj of Qatar Academy Msheireb.
In the girls' category, students from Qatar Academy Doha Primary School claimed the top three positions. Sofia Zubertska won first place, Aisha Abdulaziz al-Khalifa finished second, and Munira al-Muhannadi took third place. In the team competition, Qatar Academy Doha Primary School secured first place.
Hamad al-Tamimi, executive director of the Qatar Chess Federation, presented a commemorative shield to Sarah al-Hajri, director of Student Affairs and Community Service at QF, in recognition of her efforts in supporting the successful partnership between the two organisations.
The championship was held under the co-operation agreement between the Qatar Chess Federation and QF, which aims to introduce chess into schools and academies under the QF umbrella, expand participation among young players in local competitions, and increase the number of registered and internationally rated players.
Al-Tamimi lauded the collaboration between the federation and QF, noting that the tournament showcased promising talent among students and helped advance key objectives, foremost among them promoting chess culture in QF's primary schools.
