Addressing the annual Rustamji Memorial lecture organised by the Border Security Force in New Delhi, Shah said the government was committed not only to stopping infiltration but also to identifying and deporting every infiltrator residing in the country.

“The government of India has decided that not only will we stop infiltration but we will find each and every infiltrator and send them out of the country,” Shah said.
He also asserted that the government would not allow any“artificial change” in the country's demography through infiltration from across the borders.
The proposed“smart border” system will use advanced technology including drones, radars and smart surveillance cameras to strengthen security along the nearly 6,000-km borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Calling both frontiers“vulnerable” from a national security perspective, Shah said traditional methods alone were insufficient to guard the borders effectively. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts involving security agencies and state governments.
The home minister said the borders currently face threats such as illegal infiltration, narcotics smuggling, drone-based arms trafficking, fake currency circulation and organised crime.
“It is most important to identify future dangers, and it is our responsibility to stop the artificial demographic change being attempted from the other side through infiltration,” he said.
Referring to India's security policy under the Narendra Modi government, Shah said the country had adopted a more assertive defence doctrine since 2014.
“We have defeated all three attacks carried out by Pakistan whether it was in Uri, Pulwama or Pahalgam. We have given them a befitting response by striking deep inside Pakistan,” he said.

He urged BSF personnel to work closely with local administrations in border areas to identify infiltrators and plug gaps facilitating smuggling and illegal movement.
The minister further announced that the Centre would soon convene a meeting with the chief ministers of Tripura, West Bengal and Assam to discuss border security measures.
During the event, Shah honoured BSF personnel with gallantry medals, including officers and jawans involved in Operation Sindoor.
