Trump Ties Iran Sanctions Relief to Final Peace Deal, Signals Negotiations Near Endgame
(MENAFN) Donald Trump has said the United States will not ease sanctions on Iran until a comprehensive agreement to end the conflict is fully finalized, according to remarks made to reporters.
Speaking at Joint Base Andrews, Trump stated that no sanctions relief would be granted unless Tehran signs a formal deal, emphasizing that any economic recovery measures would only follow a complete settlement.
“I’m not doing any relief until they sign an agreement,” he said, adding that discussions are in advanced stages but that he is “in no hurry” to conclude them.
As stated by reports, the negotiations are part of ongoing efforts to resolve a war between the United States, Israel, and Iran that escalated after strikes launched in late February, leading to widespread regional instability and disruptions in maritime traffic through strategic waterways.
Trump also suggested that internal conditions inside Iran are deteriorating and claimed there is growing public dissatisfaction, though he did not provide specific evidence.
He further indicated alignment with Israeli leadership on Iran policy, responding “Yeah” when asked if he shares the same position as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Meanwhile, diplomatic mediation efforts continue, with Pakistan playing a recurring role in facilitating indirect talks between Washington and Tehran. Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently visited Tehran as part of ongoing regional consultations.
Reports indicate that a ceasefire reached in early April has held intermittently, though negotiations have yet to produce a lasting settlement, and tensions remain elevated across the broader Middle East region.
