Russia, Ukraine Report Civilian Casualties After Overnight Air Raids

(MENAFN) Both Russia and Ukraine have reported civilian deaths and injuries following overnight aerial attacks, according to statements from regional and military authorities cited in reports.

In Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, local military administration officials said a Russian airstrike killed two people and injured 12 others. In the Chernihiv region, authorities reported additional casualties in the city of Priluki, where two people were killed and 17 others were wounded.

On the Russian side, Kursk regional governor Aleksandr Khinshtein said one person was killed and two were injured in a Ukrainian drone strike, according to a Telegram statement.

Russian state nuclear operator Rosatom also claimed that Ukrainian forces carried out what it described as one of the “most serious” attacks on Energodar, the town located near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which has been under Russian control since early 2022.

In another incident, the governor of Russia’s Yaroslavl region reported that a Ukrainian drone struck an industrial facility, causing a fire. Officials said most drones were intercepted, though one hit its target, prompting emergency response efforts.

Separately, Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that 315 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across multiple regions overnight and also claimed territorial gains, including the capture of a settlement in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region.

The reports from both sides could not be independently verified, and details of the incidents continue to emerge amid ongoing hostilities.
