Belarus Begins Nuclear Weapons Drills with Russia
(MENAFN) According to reports, Belarus’ Defense Ministry announced on Monday the start of joint military exercises with Russia focused on the combat use of nuclear weapons and nuclear support operations.
In a statement, the ministry said the drills are intended to strengthen the readiness of Belarusian armed forces to operate what it described as “modern weapons.”
The ministry stated: “The purpose of the training is to improve personnel training, test the readiness of weapons, military and special equipment to perform missions, and organize combat deployment from unplanned areas.”
According to reports, the joint exercises will include practicing the delivery of nuclear munitions and preparing them for operational use.
The drills are also expected to test the ability of forces to deploy from unprepared locations throughout Belarus, with particular focus on concealment measures, long-range movement, and coordination between military units and equipment.
The ministry emphasized that the exercise is a planned activity conducted within the framework of the Union State alliance between Belarus and Russia and stated that it “is not directed against third countries, and does not pose a threat to security in the region,” according to reports.
