Cuba Rejects Drone Allegations, Reaffirms Right to Self-Defense

(MENAFN) Cuban diplomatic representatives have asserted that the country retains the right to self-defense amid media claims suggesting it has acquired military drones, according to reports.

In a statement shared on social media, Cuba’s embassy in the United States emphasized that “Like any country, Cuba has the right to defend itself against external aggression,” adding that “It is called self-defense, and it is protected by International Law and the UN Charter.” The embassy also criticized what it described as efforts to misrepresent Cuba’s defensive posture, arguing that such claims are being used to justify hostility against the country.

Separate remarks from Cuba’s diplomatic mission in the United Kingdom addressed the same allegations, rejecting reports that suggested Havana had obtained large numbers of military drones. The mission argued that such claims were inconsistent and misleading, stating that “US officials don't believe Cuba is actively planning to attack,” and characterizing the narrative as unfounded.

Cuban officials further accused external actors of constructing misleading justifications for pressure against the country, with the foreign minister alleging that ongoing claims are being used to rationalize economic and political pressure, and potentially military escalation.

According to reports, the controversy stems from unverified intelligence-related claims cited in international media discussions, which Cuban authorities have firmly denied.
