Explosion and Fire at Russian Gas Station Leave Six Injured
(MENAFN) Six people were injured after an explosion triggered a large fire at a gas station in the southern Russian city of Pyatigorsk on Saturday, according to local officials.
Vladimir Vladimirov said in a statement on the Russian social media platform Max that the blast occurred while a gas tanker was being unloaded. He added that preliminary information suggests the incident may have resulted from a violation of safety procedures.
Separately, Pyatigorsk Mayor Dmitry Voroshilov said the explosion was not connected to a drone strike.
In another statement shared on Max, Voroshilov said the resulting fire spread across an area of roughly 1,000 square meters. He added that emergency crews were working to extinguish the blaze and stop it from reaching nearby buildings and facilities.
