Türkiye’s Top Diplomat to Join Turkic States Foreign Ministers Meeting

(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to attend the upcoming Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), which will take place Friday in Turkistan, Kazakhstan, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.

Fidan will accompany President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the OTS Informal Summit during the visit, officials said.

The meeting follows a decision made at the 12th OTS Summit in Azerbaijan on Oct. 7, 2025, where member states agreed—on Türkiye’s initiative—to increase the frequency of foreign ministers’ meetings.

Since then, informal gatherings have already been held in Istanbul in March and during the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in April, reflecting what officials describe as growing coordination among member states.

The upcoming session in Turkistan will mark the third meeting of OTS foreign ministers in recent months, bringing together representatives from Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, along with the organization’s secretary-general.

Discussions are expected to focus on cooperation across political, economic, energy, cultural, and digital sectors, as well as exchanges on key regional and global developments, including Iran and Gaza.

According to reports, the meeting is also expected to conclude with the signing of a decision aimed at strengthening the institutional and digital capacity of the OTS Secretariat.

In his address, Fidan is expected to emphasize satisfaction with the deepening cooperation among Turkic states, particularly in trade, energy security, connectivity, education, and digital transformation.
