Israeli Forces Escort Dozens of Settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound

(MENAFN) Dozens of Israeli settlers entered the compound of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem on Thursday morning under police protection, according to reports.

According to reports, the group entered the site and carried out what were described as Talmudic rituals in the courtyards while under the escort of Israeli security forces.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound is considered the third-holiest site in Islam, while Jews refer to the area as the Temple Mount, citing historical and religious claims that it was once the location of ancient Jewish temples.

According to reports, Israeli police have permitted settler entries into the compound on a near-daily basis since 2003, with the exception of Fridays and Saturdays.

Separate figures cited by Palestinian authorities indicate that the site witnessed dozens of similar incursions in April alone, reflecting a continued pattern of repeated entries into the compound under Israeli protection.
