Changan and CAOA Mark Milestone with USD 950 million Investment and Breakthrough Flex-Fuel Technology

(MENAFN- IPN) Dubai, UAE– May 7, 2026: Changan Automobile and CAOA marked a major milestone with the inauguration of a highly automated production line in Anápolis and the roll-off of the first Brazil-made CHANGAN UNI-T. The ceremony, attended by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin, and H.E. Zhu Qingqiao, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil, highlights Changan’s growing global manufacturing footprint and advancement in high-tech automotive production.

The milestone underscores Changan’s long-term commitment to Brazil, backed by continuous investment in production capacity, technological modernization, and advanced manufacturing processes. The inauguration launches a USD 950 million investment cycle between 2026 and 2028. Combined with USD 570 million invested from 2023 to 2025, total investment reaches USD 1.52 billion with annual production capacity of 90,000 units. This development also reflects Changan’s “Vast Ocean Plan,” strengthening global manufacturing and accelerating growth in key markets, including the Middle East

“For Changan, Brazil is not only a place to invest, but a land where we are committed to building a long-term future,” said Zhu Huarong, Chairman of China Changan Automobile Group.

A Breakthrough in Local Engineering
The UNI-T is the result of three years of collaboration between more than 200 Chinese and Brazilian engineers. At its core is the advanced 1.5 Turbo GDi BlueCore Flex engine — engineered by Changan and calibrated by CAOA’s specialized team to operate on any ratio of ethanol and petrol.
The SUV underwent over 200,000 km of real-world testing across Brazil’s diverse climates to ensure durability, efficiency, and performance. It combines global engineering expertise with localized innovations and a connected cockpit, delivering a user experience tailored to Brazilian drivers.
“The UNI-T represents far more than a new model. It demonstrates that Brazil can establish itself as a global hub for high-technology automotive engineering and production,” said Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade Filho, Co-President of CAOA.

Supporting Global Growth
The CHANGAN UNI-T serves as the platform for these powertrains. The investment focuses on digitalizing assembly lines and strengthening specialized workforce capabilities, further enhancing Changan’s international manufacturing network.
Building on this launch, Changan plans to leverage its powertrain foundation to introduce hybrid and electrified variants, further strengthening localized supply chains and R&D capabilities. With over 60 dealerships set to open in 2026, Changan continues to broaden its global presence while advancing intelligent and sustainable mobility technologies worldwide, including in the Middle East and Africa.
