'People's Expectations Not Met Under Stalin': Praveen Khandelwal Congratulates Vijay

(MENAFN- IANS) New Delhi, May 10 (IANS) BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal on Sunday congratulated C. Joseph Vijay after he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, expressing hope that the new government would improve governance in the state after what he described as years of public dissatisfaction under the previous dispensation.

“Many congratulations to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. It is hoped that, as compared to the situation of chaos over the past five years in Tamil Nadu and the government under Stalin's leadership not meeting people's expectations, Vijay and TVK will work towards improving governance in Tamil Nadu,” Khandelwal said.

C. Joseph Vijay, president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, took oath as Chief Minister on Sunday, marking a historic political transition in the state and ending nearly six decades of alternating rule between the DMK and AIADMK.

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Vijay during a grand ceremony held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.

Nine ministers were also sworn in alongside Vijay as part of the new council of ministers.

The swearing-in ceremony witnessed the presence of several prominent national and regional political leaders, film personalities and thousands of party supporters. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, also attended the event.

Authorities enforced extensive security arrangements in and around the venue due to the massive turnout. Chennai city police deployed heavy security personnel, intensified vehicle checks and imposed strict access-control measures near the stadium to ensure smooth conduct of the event.

Meanwhile, Khandelwal also targeted the Congress party over the delay in selecting a Chief Minister in Kerala despite the party securing a clear majority in the Assembly elections.

“Congress, on one hand, makes big claims and remains continuously involved in a politics of allegations and counter-allegations. But even where Congress has a clear majority, and a week is about to pass, the party has still not been able to decide the name of its Chief Minister in Kerala,” he said.
