Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has repeatedly warned the public not to approach, touch or move unidentified objects, fragments or debris resulting from explosions or falling objects.

In a statement issued on its official platforms, the ministry clarified why it is important that the general public follow this directive.

It said debris may cause serious injuries as they may contain irregular and sharp fragments capable of causing deep cuts or bleeding if touched.

The ministry also noted that such materials may retain extreme heat following blasts or friction and touching it may cause immediate burns.

It further warned that some debris may have unexploded remnants that could trigger explosion if moved or touched.

According to the Ministry, debris from explosions may also contain hazardous materials such as fuel residues, chemicals or other materials from the source of explosion that can pose health risks if handled.

In addition, the ministry stressed that moving or tampering with debris can alter its location thereby obstructing the work of specialized investigation teams while examining remnants to determine the cause of incidents.

Another risk that one can expect is that such debris may be contaminated with oils, heavy metals or industrial substances that may harm both human health and the environment.

The ministry urged the public to call 999 if they find unidentified objects, debris or fragments.
