Elizabeth Vaughan

Liz Vaughan is the Rock Art Australia Kimberley Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Science and Honours in archaeology from UWA, where her research examined the evolution of Aboriginal heritage protection in Western Australia. Liz has worked across heritage advisory, Aboriginal joint management, cultural tourism, and legislative consulting roles, giving her a grounded understanding of how Aboriginal heritage is protected, managed, and lived across WA. She works closely with multiple Traditional Owner groups and Aboriginal corporations, with a particular interest in how cultural heritage operates as a living, daily practice and how this translates into modern governance, research, and development settings. She has published on heritage legislation and advocacy and co-founded the Aboriginal Heritage Action Alliance.
