Allison Hart Addresses Türkiye’s NATO Membership
(MENAFN) Türkiye remains a steadfast partner and an important contributor to collective defense, NATO spokesperson Allison Hart stated on Tuesday. In a written message to a news agency commemorating the anniversary of Türkiye’s entry into NATO, Hart underlined Ankara’s enduring role and support within the alliance.
“As we look forward to the next NATO Summit in Ankara in July, we are reminded today of the many ways in which Türkiye contributes to the Alliance, as it has done for 74 years since joining NATO,” she said.
Hart highlighted that Türkiye possesses NATO’s second-largest military force and drew attention to the nation’s "steady investment in defense", "robust defense industry" and "consistent contributions to NATO missions, activities and exercises."
Türkiye officially became a member of NATO on Feb. 18, 1952, three years after the alliance was established in 1949.
Throughout the past 74 years, by capitalizing on its geostrategic position, Türkiye has persistently delivered vital support to NATO. It has stood out as the first ally in its region to directly address emerging dangers and security challenges, particularly in efforts to combat terrorism.
