Over EUR 1M Raised In Slovakia For Energy Support To Ukraine
The fundraiser was launched in late January on the initiative of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Slovak Republic, the Donio platform, and civic organizations. Initially, the organizers planned to raise EUR 500,000 to purchase generators and charging stations for the regions of Ukraine most affected by Russian attacks during the winter – Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipro. However, the amount raised significantly exceeded expectations, reaching more than EUR 1 million.
More than 19,000 people, including organizations and companies, contributed to the fundraiser to support Ukrainians. Slovaks who donated left messages of support such as: "We are keeping our fingers crossed for you to endure this winter as well," "Ukraine is fighting for our values too," and "Warmth and victory to you."
As part of the campaign, 22 generators and two charging stations have already been sent, including eight generators to Sumy and the Sumy region, eight generators to Zaporizhzhia, and six generators and two charging stations to Dnipro.
