Guardiola Speaks Out on Global Injustice
(MENAFN) Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expressed deep concern about the suffering of innocent civilians around the world and urged people not to ignore injustice. Speaking at a press briefing ahead of his team’s Carabao Cup semi final second leg match against Newcastle United, he spoke emotionally about global conflicts and human suffering.
Guardiola said that despite living in a connected age, the world still witnesses devastating events. “Never in human history have we had everything so clearly in front of our eyes,” he said, referencing conflicts in Gaza, Ukraine, Russia, and Sudan. He emphasized that these issues affect all of humanity, not just those directly involved.
The 55 year old coach insisted that the discussion should not be reduced to political arguments or choosing sides, but rather about valuing and protecting human life. “It’s not only about Palestine. It’s about every cause that can make humanity better,” he said. He also spoke about the plight of people fleeing war, noting the urgency of helping those in distress without debating whether their situation is “right or wrong.”
Guardiola also commented on fatal shootings in Minneapolis last month, describing these deaths as unacceptable and using them as an example of why speaking out against injustice matters. He said that when acts are “wrong,” societies should use the legal system — going to court or seeking accountability — as part of the modern justice process.
Reflecting on the contrast between technological progress and ongoing violence, Guardiola said it pains him to see images of civilians suffering. “We can reach the moon, we can do incredible things, but we still kill each other,” he said. He added that seeing families affected by violence — fathers, mothers, children — makes the suffering personal for him and motivates his stance against injustice.
Guardiola said he will continue to speak up because he feels deeply affected when innocent people’s lives are destroyed.
