Gaza’s Genocide Feeds Western Desire for Israeli Arms
(MENAFN) Executives from Israeli defense start-ups report a sharp rise in international interest for their weapons and military technologies, following two years of ongoing Genocide on Gaza. Strikes carried out by Israel in Gaza and Lebanon, along with operations targeting Hezbollah, are said to have boosted foreign demand for the tools and systems employed by Israeli forces.
Data from Startup Nation Central indicates that Israeli start-ups attracted a record $15.6 billion in investment in 2025, up from $12 billion the previous year, with industry specialists predicting that growth will continue.
This surge in demand comes even as several European governments have publicly criticized Israel’s operations in Gaza and, in some cases, moved to restrict or suspend arms sales over concerns about potential violations of international humanitarian law. Nations that have imposed limits include the UK, Italy, Spain, Canada, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
Aaron Kaplowitz, founder of Miami-based venture firm 1948 Ventures, told reports that some governments are “publicly virtue-signaling about Gaza, to placate the street while also sending their defense leaderships to talk with Israeli companies to protect that same street.”
In addition, media reports have highlighted that Google violated its own 2024 policy restricting the use of artificial intelligence for weapons or surveillance by assisting an Israeli military contractor with drone footage analysis. According to a former employee, Google’s Gemini AI tools were provided to Israel’s defense apparatus even as the company publicly distanced itself from the military, following internal protests over a West Jerusalem contract.
