TRNC, Greek Cypriot Leaders Meet for UN-Facilitated Discussions

(MENAFN) Tufan Erhurman and Nikos Hristodulidis met Monday in the United Nations–controlled buffer zone in Cyprus for discussions hosted by the UN’s senior representative on the island, according to reports.

The closed-door session took place at the residence of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Cyprus, Khassim Diagne, lasting approximately 90 minutes in what was described as a “positive atmosphere.”

The two leaders engaged in a “fruitful discussion,” exchanging views on key issues and exploring the way forward in the Cyprus process, the UN stated.

They welcomed the UN Secretary-General’s continued focus on the Cyprus issue and reaffirmed their readiness to support his efforts.

Erhurman and Hristodulidis also agreed to hold another meeting by the end of April, aiming to provide more concrete announcements, according to the UN.

No joint press release was issued following the meeting.
