NASA Moves to Accelerate ISS Crew Return
(MENAFN) NASA and SpaceX announced Friday they are now targeting no earlier than 5 p.m. ET (2200 GMT) on Jan. 14 for the departure of the space agency's SpaceX Crew-11 mission from the International Space Station, contingent on favorable weather.
The space agency revealed Thursday it opted to accelerate the crew's Earth return from its initial schedule after mission teams identified a "medical concern" affecting one crew member.
Crew-11 comprises NASA astronauts Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) astronaut Kimiya Yui, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Platonov.
Should the undocking occur on schedule, the SpaceX Dragon capsule will make its ocean landing off California's coastline at 3:40 a.m. ET (1130 GMT) on Jan. 15, NASA stated.
