7 Civilians Killed In Ukrainian Strikes, Russian Envoy Says

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Russian officials say seven civilians were killed and dozens injured in Ukrainian strikes across border regions during the past week, escalating tensions.

Russia's envoy for Ukraine, Rodion Miroshnik, has claimed that Ukrainian attacks on Russian-held areas over the past week have killed seven civilians and wounded 60 others.

Speaking to state media, Miroshnik said the strikes targeted several regions under Russian control, including Belgorod, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and the self-declared Donetsk People's Republic. He added that drone attacks were the primary cause of the reported casualties.

Moscow has repeatedly accused Kyiv of escalating cross-border strikes in recent months, while Ukraine argues its operations are aimed at military targets and infrastructure supporting Russia's war effort.

The latest allegations come as Russia continues its own wave of aerial bombardments on Ukrainian cities, where frequent missile and drone attacks have caused widespread destruction and civilian deaths throughout the conflict.

Despite the ongoing exchanges, delegations from the United States, Ukraine and Russia have held preliminary discussions in recent days, exploring possible pathways toward ending the nearly three-year-old war.

Analysts say the talks signal a shift in diplomatic engagement, but warn that a negotiated settlement remains distant as both sides publicly reject major concessions.

International observers and humanitarian organisations continue to urge restraint, calling on all parties to protect civilians and adhere to international law as fighting intensifies.
