Kazakhstan Announces Joining Abraham Accords

(MENAFN) Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced on Friday that Kazakhstan has joined the Abraham Accords as part of efforts to stabilize the situation in the Middle East.

Speaking at the International Forum for Peace and Trust held in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, Tokayev also reiterated his endorsement for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state.

“Kazakhstan’s decision to join the Abraham Accords is driven by the aspiration to make a meaningful contribution to stabilizing the situation in this region. At the same time, Kazakhstan supports the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state as a crucial factor in resolving this truly protracted military and political crisis,” his office quoted him as stating.
Kazakhstan, which has maintained diplomatic relations with Israel since recognizing the country in 1992, officially announced its participation in the Abraham Accords last November.

The Abraham Accords are agreements facilitated by the United States that normalized ties between Israel and several Muslim-majority nations during President Trump's first term. Before Kazakhstan became a member, four countries had joined the agreements: Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates.
