Cold Wave Alert! IMD Warns Of Chilly Weather In Maharashtra, Karnataka, 5 More States Full List Of Districts Here

(MENAFN- Live Mint) Weather forecast today: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a cold wave alert for 10 December for 7 states, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Punjab, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.

IMD in a post on X stated,“Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Punjab, Telangana, Vidarbha & West MP may see severe cold till Dec 10. Stay warm, stay indoors when possible, and look out for kids, elders & those in need.” The prevailing weather conditions indicate the presence of a trough in easterlies lying near southwest Bay of Bengal in lower tropospheric level that is located along longitude 83 °E.

Predicting chilly weather today and in the coming days, the weather agency in its latest press release said,“Cold wave conditions very likely to prevail at isolated places over Punjab, West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, North Interior Karnataka, Telangana, during 10th-12th, Vidarbha on 10th, Haryana and Marathawada on 11th & 12th December.”

Dense foggy mornings are set to accompany icy cold weather“in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh on 10th, Odisha on 10th & 11th, East Uttar Pradesh during 10th-13th and over Assam and Manipur during 10th-14th December.”

A“fresh feeble Western Disturbance” is expected to bring light rainfall and snowfall at isolated places over western Himalayan region from 13 December.

The weather department forecasted gradual fall in minimum temperature by 2 degrees Celsius over plains of Northwest India during the coming 2 days and 2 to 3 drop in temperatures over Maharashtra over the next 3 days. As per IMD, cold wave conditions will continue to prevail over central, east, northern peninsula and over parts of northwest India till 12 December.

• Several districts of Maharashtra are on IMD's yellow alert for cold wave, including Dhule, Nandurbar, Nasik, Ghats of Nasik, Jalgaon, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Ghats of Pune, Sholapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalana, Parbhani and Beed.
• Adilabad, KomuramBheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy districts of Telangana are on yellow alert for cold wave.
• Cold wave alert is in place for Belagavi, Bagalkote, Bidar, Vijayapura, Kalaburgi and Dharwad districts of Karnataka.
• Bhopal, Vidisha, Sehore, Rajgarh, Indore, Shajapur, Jabalpur, Seoni Districts and Raisen districts of Madhya Pradesh are on cold wave alert.
• Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Angul, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Sonepur districts of Odisha are on cold wave alert.
