Doha Forum Reinforces Qatar's Vital Role In Global Peace And Dialogue
Doha, Qatar: Doha Forum has once again affirmed its standing as one of the world's most influential platforms for dialogue on global stability, peace, and cooperation, according to H E Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Speaking to The Peninsula, he underscored Forum's significance in fostering open, honest conversations that address pressing international challenges and chart a path toward a more just and secure world.
During his second participation in the Forum, Francis described the Forum as“a very important platform for dialogue” that helps the international community better understand the complex issues confronting it. What makes Doha Forum unique, he emphasized, is its ability to bring together a wide spectrum of perspectives, governments, experts, youth, civil society, and global institutions, to collectively envision“our future” and explore ways to strengthen international peace and security.
This year's theme, centered on justice for all, he said, reflects an urgent global need for deeper commitment, cooperation, and goodwill to ensure that“no one is left behind,” echoing the core principles of the United Nations.

Speaking about Qatar's broader contributions, Francis commended the country's expanding role as a global mediator. He noted that in a world increasingly marked by division, conflict, and geopolitical fractures, Qatar's initiatives, both through the Doha Forum and its diplomacy, serve as a stabilising force.
“Qatar continues to play an extremely important role globally as a mediator,” he said, highlighting the country's capacity to bring conflicting parties to the negotiating table and its consistent commitment to resolving disputes peacefully.
He stressed that the world today needs peace and stability“perhaps now more than any other time in recent history,” and Qatar's leadership has become an indispensable asset in that endeavor.
Francis praised the government of Qatar, under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for its willingness to shoulder the responsibilities and costs associated with peacebuilding. This commitment, he said, offers“great hope for a future of humanity that is dignified, progressive, stable, and secure, without hostility and strife.”
Reflecting on his expectations for this year's gathering, Francis expressed confidence that the discussions at Doha Forum will significantly influence international policymaking. The recommendations and insights emerging from the sessions, he noted, will contribute to shaping global priorities in areas such as conflict resolution, humanitarian action, and sustainable development.
He pointed specifically to crises such as those impacting civilians in Gaza and Israel, emphasizing that genuine solutions are within reach if the international community demonstrates strong, unified commitment. Doha Forum, he said, serves as“a magnificent platform” for generating the ideas, momentum, and partnerships needed to turn such aspirations into reality.
As the world searches for pathways toward peace, equitable development, and shared security, the Doha Forum, powered by Qatar's steadfast diplomatic vision, continues to stand as a beacon for dialogue-driven solutions.
Through its inclusive approach and global reach, the Forum reinforces Qatar's role as a crucial pillar of international stability and a trusted mediator in times of crisis.
