Megan Habina Calls For Greater Support For Women In High-Stress Service Careers

(MENAFN- GetNews) CEO of Valkyrie Fitness & Nutrition Highlights Urgent Need for Practical Health Solutions for Women in First Responder, Military, and Healthcare Roles

Following her in-depth career feature and interview, Megan Habina, Founder and CEO of Valkyrie Fitness & Nutrition, is using her platform to raise awareness about the growing physical and mental health crisis among women working in high-stress, high-risk service professions.

Drawing from her own background as a former Class I and II Police Officer and member of the New Jersey Army National Guard and Honour Guard, Habina is urging the public and employers to recognise the unique challenges faced by women in these demanding fields.

“I've been on 12-hour shifts. I've come home exhausted and still wanted to feel strong,” she said.“Women in these roles give everything they have. The least we can do is make health and strength accessible to them.”

A Growing Crisis Backed by Data

Recent studies show:

  • 61% of women in first responder roles report chronic stress or burnout (NIOSH, 2024).

  • Over 70% of nurses experience sleep disruption and weight fluctuations due to shift work.

  • Women in frontline jobs are 40% more likely to report feeling unsupported in maintaining their health.

These statistics reflect the very issues Habina experienced firsthand-and ultimately what led her to build programmes tailored specifically for women working under intense physical and emotional pressures.

“You don't need a perfect routine. You need a plan that fits your life,” she noted.“I created solutions for women like me-women who serve, who protect, who care for others, and who deserve support.”

Advocating for Simplicity, Structure, and Self-Belief

Habina's advocacy centres on empowering women to take small, manageable steps toward better health, even in the midst of chaotic schedules.

“Start with what you can do, not what you think you should do,” she explained.“Even 20 minutes of focused movement a few times a week can change your confidence and energy.”

She also stresses the importance of mindset and written goals:

“If you don't write down your goals, you are far less likely to ever reach them. It's simple-but life-changing.”

Her message is grounded in practical experience, not theory. As she shared,“I failed a lot. But I learned that failure isn't the end-it's part of the process. That's what I want women to know.”

A Call to Action

Habina is encouraging women across the country-whether in uniform, scrubs, or still training-to take ownership of their health through small, consistent habits.

Her call to action is simple:

  • Write down one goal today.

  • Choose one small action to take this week.

  • Focus on consistency, not perfection.

“Strength isn't built in giant leaps,” Habina said.“It's built in moments-small choices made again and again.”

She also urges leaders, departments, and organisations to do more: provide education, promote movement breaks, and create wellness policies that reflect real-world schedules.
