UN-Habitat In Kuwait Holds Family Is A Homeland Event For Arab Family Day
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
KUWAIT, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in Kuwait held an event titled "The Family is a Homeland" in conjunction with the celebration of Arab Family Day, which falls on December 7 each year.
The event aims to raise awareness about the role and societal importance of the family and to increase knowledge on issues related to it.
Dr. Ameera Al-Hassan, Head of the UN-Habitat Office in Kuwait and the Gulf States, told KUNA on the sidelines of the event that the family is considered a fundamental pillar for the sustainability of urban communities, and supporting it forms an essential basis for achieving social stability.
Al-Hassan explained that dedicating this day aims to highlight the core values of family stability, considering the family a safety valve amid social, economic, and cultural changes. She added that this event falls within the UN-Habitat Mandate Work to strengthen social cohesion and support family unity as one of the foundations of community sustainability.
She noted that the event included a panel discussion on issues concerning the Arab family, its bonds, and the Arab values and customs intertwined with other cultures. The panel concluded with recommendations, the most important of which was the emphasis on reinforcing these bonds and solidifying their values.
Al-Hassan praised the programme's community partnership with the Employees Club of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, which hosted the event, as well as the participation of the volunteer team "Faz'at Al-Dhahiya" and the healthy cities of Al-Adailiya and Al-Faiha. She affirmed that UN-Habitat will continue supporting such initiatives aimed at strengthening family stability. (end)
