Erdogan applauds Syrian efforts to rebuild amid challenges

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expresses satisfaction at witnessing the Syrian people working to rebuild their nation despite significant challenges. He notes that the effective implementation of Syria’s March 10 agreement will undermine the efforts of malicious actors who seek to exploit a divided and unstable country, as stated by reports.

“We are pleased to see Syrian people striving to rebuild their country over the past year despite all the hardships, and the devastation left by the Assad dictatorship,” Erdogan says during his speech at a Human Rights Day event in Ankara.

He stresses that Türkiye and its citizens fully back the Syrians’ initiatives for recovery, reconstruction, and rebuilding through all available means. Erdogan also highlights the situation in Palestine, adding that the oppressed population there “will see their patience crowned with victory, and freedom and peace will come with a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

The March 10 agreement, announced by the Syrian presidency, outlines the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) — primarily led by the YPG/PKK — into Syria’s official structures, reaffirming the nation’s territorial unity and rejecting separatist ambitions.
