Over Dozen Injured in Ukrainian Drone Attack on Russia
(MENAFN) At least 14 individuals sustained injuries following a Ukrainian drone assault on Russia's Chuvashia Republic, regional authorities confirmed Tuesday.
"According to operational data as of 11 am (0800GMT), the number of victims of today's drone attack in Cheboksary has risen to 14, including one child," Vladimir Stepanov, the region's deputy head, said in a statement on Telegram.
Stepanov reported that emergency response teams remain deployed at the scene, with all casualties receiving requisite medical treatment.
Chuvashia Governor Oleg Nikolayev separately disclosed damage to residential structures in the Volga River port city, where temporary traffic limitations have been enacted.
"All necessary assistance is being provided to residents, and all damaged residential buildings will be restored," he added.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed its air defense systems intercepted 121 Ukrainian-launched drones during overnight operations. While no interceptions occurred over Chuvashia, the military statement indicated four drones were neutralized over the adjacent Nizhny Novgorod region.
Ukrainian officials have not issued immediate commentary on the Chuvashia incident, though the nation's Air Force asserted its defenses destroyed 84 of 110 various drone types launched by Russia overnight.
In Ukraine's northeastern Sumy region, Governor Oleh Hryhorov stated the assault targeted energy facilities, causing power outages in areas bordering Russia.
Ukraine's State Emergency Service additionally documented infrastructure destruction in the Zaporizhzhia and Chernihiv regions, the latter sharing a border with Sumy.
