Hungary, Türkiye Deepen Cooperation in Pursuit of Peace

(MENAFN) Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Monday highlighted the shared initiatives undertaken with Türkiye to advance peace efforts in Ukraine and work toward concluding the ongoing conflict. Speaking aboard his flight to Istanbul, he emphasized to reporters—citing a news portal—that "The Turks have been involved in all attempts at reconciliation and, together with the Hungarians, they know that they can only lose in the war, so the two countries often work together to promote peace."

He reiterated that the two nations convene a high-level gathering annually, noting that the central areas of the current talks revolve around the economy and commerce, migration, the war, and energy.

Referring to Türkiye as a "regional power," Orban remarked that these encounters offer an opportunity to review developments across Europe and Eurasia with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “as friends.”

According to Orban, these steady consultations have contributed to boosting mutual trade from €2–2.5 billion ($2.33–2.91 billion) to roughly €4.5–5 billion ($5.24–5.83 billion).

He added that Turkish investments in Hungary have grown, while Hungary’s economic activity in Türkiye has also broadened.

He further pointed out that during the last four years, Türkiye has been the sole nation to conclude several important accords, including arrangements ensuring the delivery of Ukrainian grain to Africa.
