Doctors At Landi Kotal DHQ Hospital Boycott OPD Over Prolonged Power Outages
Doctors and staff at the District Headquarters Hospital in Landi Kotal boycotted the Outpatient Department (OPD) on Monday to protest prolonged power outages that have severely disrupted medical services.
Hospital officials say electricity has been going out for up to 20 hours a day for the past several days, leaving key units, including the wards, emergency department, and laboratory, barely functional. The shortage of power has become especially critical during the winter season, with patients suffering in cold conditions.
According to doctors and paramedical staff, the relentless load-shedding has paralysed the treatment system, shutting down essential medical equipment and the hospital's heating system, which has further deteriorated patients' conditions.
The protesting staff warned that their OPD boycott will continue until the electricity crisis is resolved and their demands are met. Local residents have also urged authorities to take immediate action to restore power to the hospital and ease the hardships patients are facing in the harsh winter weather
