Sudan's Sovereignty Council Chairman Meets UN Envoy To Discuss Latest Developments In Country
Port Sudan: Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al Burhan, met on Sunday with the United Nations Secretary-General's Personal Envoy, Ramtane Lamamra, who is currently visiting Sudan, to discuss the latest developments in the country.
During the meeting, Al Burhan affirmed Sudan's readiness to cooperate with the United Nations and all its agencies operating in the country to achieve the desired objectives across humanitarian, developmental, and social fields, in support of peace in Sudan.
For his part, Lamamra acknowledged the complexities facing the Sudanese government, noting that an opportunity still exists to hold a Sudanese-led dialogue to prevent further bloodshed and restore security and stability. He also stressed that the United Nations is prepared to provide all necessary support to help achieve these goals.
