Washington, London Condemn Houthi Death Sentences Against Yemenis
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
ADEN, Nov 25 (KUNA) -- The US and the UK on Tuesday denounced recent death sentences made by Yemen's Houthi militia against 17 Yemeni people for alleged espionage.
In two separate press releases, both US and UK embassies said that these unfair trials highlight once more the fact that Houthi militia insist on intimidating and terrifying Yemeni people.
They also echoed condemnation of arbitrary arrests made by Houthis against people, calling on the militant group to free all the detained staff of the UN, nongovernmental organizations and diplomatic missions immediately and unconditionally.
Houthi judges had sentenced 17 people to death by firing squad and three others to jail over alleged espionage for foreign countries. (end)
