Türkiye’s “Future-Commerce” Week Kicks Off

(MENAFN) Türkiye E-Commerce Week, launching Friday in Istanbul, will host discussions addressing challenges such as emerging technologies, investment trends, and prominent subjects related to the industry, all presented under the overarching theme “Future-Commerce.”

The two-day gathering is being coordinated by the Trade Ministry, the Electronic Commerce Operators Association (ETID), and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB).

A news agency is acting as the global communication collaborator for the event.

The schedule includes a variety of panels, masterclasses, hands-on workshops, exhibitions, interactive experience areas, startup-to-business encounters, and networking opportunities.

These activities aim to advance Türkiye’s vision for digital trade by bringing together sector specialists, investors, scholars, government representatives, and end-users.

Madhu Kannan, the chief business officer at Uber, noted that the company has been operating in Türkiye for roughly a decade, and approximately 45,000 taxis are now enrolled on the Uber platform nationwide, with 95% situated in Istanbul.

Highlighting Uber's recently announced $200 million investment initiative in Türkiye, Kannan emphasized that the creation of a technology center reflects the nation’s sophisticated technological capabilities and the growing confidence in the skills of its youth.

Uber revealed last month that it intends to build a technology hub in Istanbul, allocating $200 million over the next five years.
