IDF kills two Palestinians in Southern Gaza amid ceasefire

(MENAFN) Two Palestinians were killed by Israeli army fire in southern Gaza on Tuesday, the military said, marking another breach of the fragile ceasefire.

A statement said the victims were shot for allegedly attempting to cross the “yellow line,” a boundary set under the ceasefire separating areas under Israeli control from zones where Palestinians can move. Israeli forces frequently fire at Palestinians approaching the line, even without crossing it.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that at least 266 Palestinians have been killed and 635 injured by Israeli fire since the ceasefire began on Oct. 10.

The Israeli army’s October 2023 offensive on Gaza killed more than 69,000 people, mostly women and children, injured over 170,000, and left much of the enclave in ruins.

Phase one of the ceasefire involves releasing Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, rebuilding Gaza, and creating a new governing structure without Hamas.
