Small Businesses Have Contributed To Elevating Kuwait's Trade With UK -- Ambassador
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
LONDON, Nov 18 (KUNA) -- Volume of the trade exchanges between the United Kingdom and the State of Kuwait has noticeably grown; buoyed not only by major businesses but also by start-ups and small enterprises, said the State of Kuwait Ambassador to the UK.
The Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and North Ireland, Badr Al-Munayekh, was speaking during a gathering organized by Kuwait Digital Startup Campus (KDSC) at the Kuwaiti embassy headquarters, late on Monday.
The volume of the commercial swap between the UK and the State of Kuwait grew by eight percent last year (2025), the ambassador said, adding that "this rapid growth was not only stimulated by activity of main businesses but also by startups and small commercial enterprises that motivated innovation and created jobs in the two countries."
Kuwait-UK trade volume had reportedly hit a record of around USD six billion.
Speakers at the reception, attended by leading Kuwaiti and British business leaders, officials and investors, shed light on the landscape of digital businesses and start-ups in Kuwait.
Kuwait, in recent years, witnessed emergence of a large number of young businessmen who transformed their passion and creativity into a successful vision not only in Kuwait and the Gulf but also in Europe and the United Kingdom, Ambassador Al-Munayekh stated.
He expressed hope that the workshop would conclude with new joint projects to deep further the close Kuwait-UK bonds.
The KDSC, during the event, granted a free trip to Kuwaiti start-ups to visit London and examine their peers' experience.
It had launched the "pre-accelerator programme," a comprehensive entrepreneurship initiative designed help young Kuwaiti entrepreneurs transform their innovative ideas into viable businesses.
Organizers of the program, launched in June and due to end in December, held a contest in October and invited launchers of start-ups to present their ideas to stakeholders.
The program was co-organized by the Youth Public Authority, Boeing and Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority, in collaboration with Metta company for backing startups. (end)
