Nat'l Democratic Alliance Poised To Win Bihar Polls In India


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW DELHI, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is poised to win Assembly Elections in the eastern Indian state of Bihar, leading in around 200 out of 243 seats.
According to the Election Commission of India data, the Bharatiya Janata Party, the main constituent in the NDA led in 94 seats, while Janata Dal (United) under the current Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar maintained lead in 83 seats and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) another NDA party is leading in 19 seats. The Hindustani Awam Morcha, another party in the NDA also led in five seats.
The opposition INDIA alliance was leading in less than 40 seats as Rashtriya Janata Dal of Tejaswini Yadav was leading in 26 seats, while the Congress party is heading in three seats only.
In the Bihar Assembly Elections held in two phases on November 6 and 11, a high voter turnout of 67.13 percent was recorded as one of the poorest Indian states struggled with poverty, unemployment and corruption among other problems. (end)
