China Manifests Wrath Toward Japan Over Taiwan Issue
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
BEIJING, Nov 13 (KUNA) -- China on Thursday resorted to sabre rattling in addressing Japan warning any military intervention by Tokyo "in the Taiwan issue will be considered a hostile act."
China will deal Japan a harsh blow if it dares to do this, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, speaking at a news conference. He also affirmed that Beijing would defend its national sovereignty and territorial sanctity.
The spokesperson was reacting to remarks by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, while addressing the Japanese Parliament a week ago, indicating at prospects of Japan's intervention in the Taiwan strait.
The official Chinese news agency Xinhua quoted Lin as urging Japan to correct "its errors and back down from its harmful statements" immediately and refrain from intervention in the Chinese "domestic affairs.
Whoever plays with fire in the Taiwan issue will burn himself, he threatened.
The Japanese side has gone too far, refusing to withdraw "these flagrant statements despite strong complaints presented by China," he added.
He has reiterated that Taiwan is a Chinese local affair and resolving this issue is an internal issue. (end)
