Srinagar- Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Thursday chaired a comprehensive meeting of the Multi-Disciplinary Committee on Traffic Management to review and strengthen ongoing measures aimed at streamlining traffic movement and decongesting city roads.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Commissioner SMC, RTO Kashmir, Chief Engineer R&B, and officers from Traffic Police and SSCL.
During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner took a detailed review of the improvements witnessed in downtown areas following the implementation of one-way traffic plans on several routes. It was informed that the initiative has yielded positive results by significantly reducing traffic congestion.
ADVERTISEMENTThe committee also discussed the introduction of colour-coded passes for mini-buses to restrict them from operating beyond their designated zones.
Further, the meeting proposed declaring MA Road as a“No E-Rickshaw Zone” from Jahangir Chowk to Dalgate, while allowing their movement only through Residency Road. It was also decided to impose a cap on the number of E-Rickshaws operating on saturated routes to prevent further congestion.
