CСD Warns Of Possible Russian Provocation At Zaporizhzhia NPP

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) As Ukrinform reports, the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council announced this on Facebook.

According to the report, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) stated that the West is preparing to accuse Moscow of a possible accident at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and that NATO members are allegedly calling on Kyiv to carry out sabotage at the plant with casualties among Ukrainians and residents of EU countries.

Such accusations have nothing to do with reality and may indicate that Russia itself is preparing a provocation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. However, the main goal of such statements is to intimidate the population of Ukraine and European countries, the CСD said.

Russian intelligence services regularly spread fake warnings in advance, accusing Ukraine or the West of preparing terrorist attacks, so that in the event of their own crimes, they can shift responsibility and create a favorable informational background. The SVR has already made similar "prophecies" about sabotage on pipelines, terrorist attacks in Europe, or strikes on critical infrastructure facilities. None of them have ever come true, the CСD said.

It is Russia that bears full responsibility for the safety of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, since it is the one that seized the plant, deployed military equipment on its territory, and exerts pressure on the staff, the Center stressed.

As Ukrinform reported, the Zaporizhzhia NPP was in blackout for about a month starting from September 23.
