(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump has made it clear that he will not pursue a third term in office during the 2028 presidential election, according to remarks he made in a televised interview on Sunday.

When asked whether he might consider another campaign, Trump replied, "I don't even think about it. I will tell you, a lotta people want me to run."

Pressed further about potential successors such as Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the president expressed his confidence in several possible candidates. "I like so many people. We have an unbelievable bench. We could run two people together. We have a great bench. So I don't want to start talking about elections. It's too early," he said.

As noted in reports, the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution restricts presidents to serving no more than two terms, making a third campaign legally impossible.
