Türkiye, Jordan Strengthen Economic Ties
(MENAFN) Türkiye and Jordan formalized a memorandum of understanding during the Türkiye–Jordan Joint Economic Commission (JEC) gathering in Amman, attended by the trade ministers of both nations.
Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat described the JEC meeting as a “watershed moment” in bilateral relations, highlighting the launch of the first joint economic commission.
He emphasized that this step opens avenues for collaboration in trade, investments, infrastructure, contracting, agriculture, health, culture, tourism, and other sectors.
Bolat mentioned that in bilateral discussions, both countries committed to creating new projects and initiatives to enhance cooperation in key sectors.
As part of Bolat’s visit, Turkish and Jordanian business representatives, along with the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), participated in a roundtable.
A larger forum bringing together the two nations’ business communities is also planned for the near future.
“We will sign many agreements on cooperation in free zones, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), organized industrial zones, standardization, education, health and scientific research, and agriculture,” Bolat stated.
The trade volume between Türkiye and Jordan reached nearly $1.5 billion from January to September, reflecting rapidly expanding commercial ties built on a mutually beneficial approach, he added.
Bolat also highlighted that both countries, along with their private sectors, support collaborative efforts in the reconstruction of Syria, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank.
