Govt Approves Rs 15,095 Cr Procurement Plan For Pulses, Oilseeds Across 4 States


(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Oct 28 (KNN) A procurement plan worth Rs 15,095.83 crore for pulses and oilseeds in Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh has been approved by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the 2025–26 Kharif season.

The approvals were granted under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) and other schemes of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare during a virtual meeting with agriculture ministers and senior officials of the concerned states.

In Telangana, the ministry cleared the procurement of 4,430 metric tonnes (MT) of moong (green gram), representing 25 percent of the state's production, under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) at a cost of Rs 38.44 crore. The plan also includes 100 percent procurement of urad (black gram) and 25 percent procurement of soybean.

Odisha received approval for the procurement of 18,470 MT of arhar (red gram), equivalent to 100 percent of the state's production, under the PSS with an allocation of Rs 147.76 crore.

In Maharashtra, the Centre sanctioned procurement of 33,000 MT of moong, 3,25,680 MT of urad, and 18,50,700 MT of soybean under the PSS, with respective financial outlays of Rs 289.34 crore, Rs 2,540.30 crore, and Rs 9,860.53 crore.

For Madhya Pradesh, the government approved the procurement of 22,21,632 MT of soybean under the Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS), involving an expenditure of Rs 1,775.53 crore.

Chouhan stated,“These approvals have been granted to ensure that farmers receive better returns for their produce and to safeguard their incomes while protecting them from market fluctuations - an important step toward building an Atmanirbhar Bharat.”

The minister also noted that arrangements have been made for 100 percent procurement of tur, urad, and masoor through the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India (NCCF).

He directed that monitoring mechanisms be strengthened to ensure that procurement benefits reach farmers directly.
