Zelensky: Around 2,200 Russian Soldiers Captured In Eastern Ukraine In 2025
“Putin needed Dobropillia. And our forces acted correctly. We do not know what the Russians would have done if we had not carried out the Dobropillia operation. They 'wiped out' many of their own troops there. Around 2,200 of their soldiers have been taken prisoner this year. The entire east - Dobropillia, Pokrovsk - brought in 2,200 Russian prisoners. Imagine how many they have lost,” Zelensky said.
He also noted that since Russia is redeploying all its forces to the Pokrovsk front, their plans to advance, including in Sumy region, are unfeasible.
“In Sumy region they have no forces. Bit by bit, they will move everything to Pokrovsk,” the Ukrainian President said, emphasizing that Pokrovsk remains the main target of the invaders.
