CTD Official Martyred In Targeted Attack At His Home In North Waziristan

A Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) official was martyred in a targeted attack at his residence in Miranshah, North Waziristan.

According to police, unidentified armed assailants entered the house and opened indiscriminate fire, killing the official on the spot before fleeing the scene.

The body was shifted to Miranshah Hospital for post-mortem. Police said the martyred officer was serving as an intelligence operator with the CTD.

An investigation into the incident has been launched, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the culprits.

It is noteworthy that incidents of terrorism have increased across the country, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, over the past year.

Following the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan's (TTP) decision to end its ceasefire in November 2022, security forces, police, and law enforcement agencies have been frequently targeted in attacks.
According to recent reports by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) and the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the most affected province last month, witnessing 45 terrorist attacks that claimed 54 lives and left 49 others injured.
