Jordanian Authorities Dismantle Major Water Attacks Nationwide
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, Oct. 15 (Petra) - The Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in cooperation with relevant authorities, seized a number of attacks on water pipelines in several areas.
Today's effort is part of an "intensive" crackdown carried out by ministry teams to stop attacks on Jordan's water sources and networks.
In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry said it removed 15 attacks on a 2-inch water main in the eastern Dhahiba region, accompanied by central Muwaqqar district's police.
The ministry noted an illegal water pipeline was seized in Ain al-Basha district, adding that cases of tampering with water meters were also detected in Bayader Wadi al-Seer district, as well as an illegal water main that supplied a home in the capital's Juwaida region.
The ministry affirmed these efforts are part of its ongoing national crackdown to end attacks on water networks and protect sources, adding that these violations on networks constitute a "clear breach of the law, and that necessary legal action will be taken against violators."
Commending the security agencies' efforts in supporting its teams during the campaign, the ministry stressed its continued action to monitor any violations and take measures to ensure fair water distribution and preserve this vital resource.
