OTS Head Supports Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit

(MENAFN) The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Kubanychbek Omuraliev, conveyed his approval of the recent Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt.

The summit was held following the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza, which resulted from diplomatic initiatives by the United States, Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt.

"I welcome the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit for Peace held on 13 October 2025 with the participation of world leaders following the establishment of a ceasefire based on the diplomatic efforts of the United States, Türkiye, Qatar and Egypt and hope that the ceasefire will lead to a permanent end to hostilities and suffering in Gaza as well as the immediate and unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza," Omuraliev stated on Tuesday.

Omuraliev also shared his optimism that "this precious opportunity can be utilized by the sides for the realization of a two-state solution in the upcoming period which will allow the Palestinians and the Israelis to live side by side in peace and security."

He emphasized the potential for this moment to advance long-standing efforts toward resolving the conflict through mutual recognition and peaceful coexistence.

The initial stage of the Gaza ceasefire pact was implemented last Friday, as part of a plan initiated by US President Donald Trump to bring an end to the two-year conflict between Israel and the Gaza Strip.

On Monday, Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi organized a high-profile gathering in the resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.

This summit brought together international leaders to rally global backing for Trump's ceasefire strategy in Gaza.

Under the first step of the proposal, the Palestinian faction Hamas freed 20 Israeli hostages, while Israel released nearly 2,000 Palestinian detainees.
